Helping people who struggle with food, disordered eating and body image has been my passion for 15 years. It’s an important aspect of the more general practice of women’s health and one that hits close to home for so many women. Whether it’s a full-blown eating disorder or a constant thought in the back of the mind “if I could just lose that last 10 pounds,” discontent is rife.
I’m excited to announce that I have teamed up with the Lotus Collaborative for Eating Disorder Recovery (TLC) to offer a Community Acupuncture clinic in their beautiful facility in Santa Cruz. TLC offers holistic eating disorder recovery services for people with anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, orthorexia and disordered eating. TLC is a multi-disciplinary team of dietitians, therapists and other experts who have a passion for helping clients obtain health and happiness.
We have modeled the clinic as an externship site with Five Branches University, so I will be supervising acupuncture interns and training them to work with this unique population. The Community Acupuncture clinic is a group setting; clients have a private initial intake session and then receive ear, hand and foot acupuncture in a comfortable community setting. This fosters community support and also enables us to offer low-cost acupuncture to those who need it.
